Ho Hung Kee Congee & Noodles Shop (何洪记粥和面家) is perched at Hysan Place, Causeway Bay. It is a one Michelin star restaurant. The first in day 1, for lunch. On the same day, I went to another one Michelin star restaurant, One Dim Sum for dinner (You can read about One Dim Sum here.)
The restaurant looks classy and comfortable enough. I was sharing a table with another customer who was dinning alone. For those who are not familiar with Hong Kong dinning culture, don’t be shocked when someone else sit next or opposite you.
After looking through the deck of menu, I order the signature Wonton Mee. I ordered a small portion. As I need greens, I ordered the Kailan.
The wonton has a good amount of very crunchy prawn filling. I find that the skin used to wrapped the wonton was a little too thick. I find it very strange to have such a crunch prawn, taste very unreal. I have never tasted such a crunch prawn. As for the mee, I find that there is a slight alkaline taste. I don’t like mee with such a taste in it. As for the stock, I think it is great. It goes very well with the entire dish.
As for the green, it was fried with ginger so there is some taste of ginger, the green is still crispy and crunchy, not over fried, very nice.
On the whole, I think the noodle is a little over-rated, though it was delicious
