After trying so many Italian Restaurants in Singapore, Trattoria Pizzeria Cugini at Club Street remains as one of the favourites among my family and friends. We like everything in Cugini, especially the food. In our view, Cugini serves one of the best pasta in town.
I have been dining at Cugini with friends and family every now and then. In June, I have dined twice at Cugini.
Trattoria Pizzeria Cugini is on the ground floor of a shop house in Club Street. It has a very homely feel. The colour theme is sky blue and white. It uses the old-schooled chairs and all the tables and chairs are painted sky blue. Cugini has both Al Fresco and indoor dining.
The bread they serve, I think are Focaccia Bread, very soft and fluffy and has a nice sweetish fragrance. It is served with a creamy dip. But I always like it with olive oil instead. My friend enjoyed the dip very much.
Our favourite appetizer is the Burrata Cheese. We find that it has a pretty tender texture, good creaminess and good amount of cheese flavour. The balance was great. In addition, we enjoyed the Burrata Cheese with the rocket, very much. This is a must have if you like cheese.
We tried the Mozzarella Cheese too. The texture is slightly more firm than the Burrata Cheese. Though it has a good amount of creaminess, we find the cheese flavour a little lighter than the Burrata Cheese.
The Parma ham with aromatic salad and Emilian fried dough is pretty normal. This salad does not comes with any salad dressing, just plain greens served together with parma ham and fried dough. The fried dough is chewy and bland. If you like greens and did not want to put on more calories, this could be an option. Of course, you would need to sacrifice the dough too.
The Sardinian Style Spaghetti is our favourite pasta. We always order this when we were at Cugini, without failed. The spaghetti of course is cooked to Al Dente. It has a good fragrance of seafood, especially the taste of the roe. A fantastic pasta dish, must try.
The Sicilian style risotto with lobster, asparagus and green apple was rather unique due to the green apple added. There was a mixed view for this dish. My friend preferred the dish to be without the green apple while I feel that it is the green apple that gave a refreshing taste to the dish. Overall, we agreed that the risotto has a good flavour of seafood taste and a good balance of moist and the risotto rice were good till the right texture.
We enjoyed the pasta dishes more than the pizza. One of the pizza we usually ordered is the Cugini pizza. The pizza has a thin crust with not too much of tomato paste as the base and they are generous with the amount of cheese.
How can I forget about the desserts? The Cugini Selection is a good option for sharing. It has a tiramisu, pana cotta and a nougat. You can try the different desserts offered by Cugini. The other dessert which I like is the Hot Chocolate Souffle. The souffle has a good chocolaty taste. It has a fluffy and soft texture, very much like a sponge cake but even softer and it melts in the mouth. If you like chocolate, the Hot Chocolate Souffle is for you.
Trattoria Pizzeria Cugini serves a wide range of pizza and pasta with some good selection of mains and desserts. There is also some special which you can check with the servers. For the food menu, click here.
Trattoria Pizzeria Cugini is definitely an excellent Italian Restaurant whipping up marvellously delicious Italian fare. A highly recommended Italian Restaurant for all.
