Xi Yan Restaurant at Wan Chai, a casual dinning Chinese Restaurant serving various kind of Chinese cuisine. It’s more notable dishes are its sweets menu which are basically desserts.
I went there during dinner so I went ahead and tried the main dishes too. I ordered a Deep Fried Salted Egg Prawns. One of my favourite dish. Beside the usual salted egg flavour, it has a pretty strong basil flavour, rather unique. If you do not like basil, you might want to request for this not added.
Having only the prawn for dinner is a too little so I ordered a Lamma Island Fried Rice with Shrimp Paste and Salted Fish. I was worried that it might be too fishy but it turned out not at all. It has some hint of ginger taste in the fried rice, tasted pretty interesting.
Since Xi Yan Sweets is famous for its dessert, how can I not have dessert. I ordered a Lychee Ice Cream with Lychee Wine. It was heavenly. The ice has a nice amount of lychee flavour and with the lychee wine cover the base. With a little of the melted lychee ice cream in the wine, it taste rich and creamy. It was excellent.
What a wonderful dinner on a Saturday night. That’s life.
