Chabuton @ 313 Somerset, A Michelin Starred Japanese Ramen From Tokyo

Chabuton is a Michelin Starred Japanese Ramen hailed from Japan is famous enough and need no introduction. As always I am skeptical about food served by Michelin Starred Restaurants. I went with an intention to see what’s the standard is.

Since it’s location is in 313 Somerset, I have no problem locating the restaurant. It was so convenient till you need not worry about rain or shine as it is within a stone throw of the Somerset MRT station exit.

As the shop is a ramen shop, you get mainly ramen with some side dishes. There are four types soup based; pure tonkotsu, tonkotsu with shio, tonkotsu with shoyu and tonkotsu with miso. If you like more ingredients to go along, you can choose the from the various topping offered.

What I like best about Chabuton is that they offer small portion. I ordered a small portion of Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen and a soft boiled egg. The ramen was a little chewy to the bite and it was in a flavourful Tonkotsu soup that is not too salty. Salty enough to bring out the flavour. The Char Siew was tender and to the extend of melt in the mouth. Most importantly, it wasn’t extremely fatty. There was a little fat that enhance the meat taste. The soft boiled egg was not as great as some of which I have previously. Though it has a soft yolk but somehow it lacking of the eggy flavour from the yolk.

The best time was to dine between 11.30am and 2.30pm as they serve lunch set. It is value for money. I missed the lunch set by a few minutes. I like the ramen, I will return for more, especially when I carve for ramen.
