Sweet Basil, Delicious and Economical Thai Food

Sweet Basil is a small eatery shop with twenty odd seats located in The Adelphi whipping up Thai food. The shop is very much simple normal looking shop like most eatery that is located in the older mall.

They serve both set, ala carte and the economical rice style where you can choose your dishes from the available choices with your rice. The set comes with a main and a soft drink. There are three sets for selection; the green curry set, Thai fried Mee Hon and the Chicken Basil set. Among others you can also find typical Thai food like the Pineapple Fried Rice, Olive Fried Rice, Tom Yam Soup and many more.

We wanted the Green Curry and Chicken Basil Rice Set, it was a pity that the Chicken Basil Rice Set was sold out. So we have the Economical Rice Style instead and the Green Curry Set.

The Green Curry looked very diluted and it isn’t appetising looking at all. In other words, the taste was better than its look. At times, looks can be deceiving.

Ala Carte Order: Fried Chicken, Stir Fried Vegetable, Red Curry Chicken
Economical Styled Rice Order: Fried Chicken, Stir Fried Vegetable, Red Curry Chicken

The price of the Economical Styled Rice was pretty reasonable, costing us $5.80 for two meat and a vegetable. We have the Fried Chicken, Stir Fried Vegetable and Red Curry Chicken. All were yummy.

Dessert, Tapioca
Dessert, Tapioca

Our meal was ended with the Tapioca. I was surprise to see a mango looking Tapioca. The Tapioca was a little too ripe resulting in a little hard and fibrous one. And as the Tapioca was a little huge, the centre was not as tasty as the outer portion.

I certainly would return to try more, especially the Olive Fried Rice and Tom Yam Soup.
