It has been quite some time since I was at the Basement of Bugis Junction. While I was there, I saw Tai-Parfait. It was the pretty pastel colours that attracted my attention.
I am no big fan of Taiyaki but since it was paired with ice cream, I was eager to try.
The Tai-Parfait has two part. The top part is the ice cream while bottom part that looks like the ice cream cone is the Taiyaki. The Taiyaki comes in four different filling; chocolate, custard, matcha and azuki. First you choose from the various variants (with different ice cream combination that were stated on the menu), next you need to decide what filling of Taiyaki do you prefer.
I ordered a Tai-Parfait Matcha & Azuki with Hokkaido Vanilla Ice Cream and the Taiyaki was with Matcha. It was kinda messy to eat it. My ice cream starts to melt and drip after a minute or so. I feel that the ice cream was very much like a cream while the matcha was a gluey starchy cream. The Azuki was decent, not too sweet. For the Taiyaki, it was the chewy kind, not the soft and fluffy dough and it has a little crispy outer crust.
All in all, I didn’t enjoy Tai-Parfait, not because it wasn’t delicious but due to personal preference.
