Momolato, Ice Cream Parlour At Singapore Management University (SMU)

Momolato is a rare Ice Cream Parlour that offers popiscles beside gelato. It is located at the ground floor of School of Economics and Social Science. If you have no idea, where it is, what about opposite Hotel Rendezvous.

Though Momolato has a tiny shop floor but it has a pretty wide flavours for both gelato and popiscles. Each has approximately at least 10 flavours. The flavours are changed on a regular basis. You can check out Momolato Facebook page for the avialability.

I tried both their popiscle and gelato. The popiscle is full of fruity goodness. Some of which has a slice of real fruit in it. My first attempt of the popiscle was the Watermelon Sorbet with Kiwi. Though it mentioned Watermelon Sorbet, the Watermelon portion wasn’t sourish at all. In fact it was very sweet. I tried freezing a slice of watermelon at home too, the sweetness was as sweet as the popiscle. So it seems that the sugar tend to concentrate while frozen. It was good that the kiwi was in the popiscle and it reduces the sweetness with the sourish from the kiwi.

The gelato was smooth, creamery and flavourful. I like the Strawberry Cheesecake, it was slightly sweetish with a good amount of strawberry and cheesecake flavour. A scoop wasn’t enough. I need more.

At Momolato, the prices were quite reasonable. They do have a few tables with two chairs each, outdoor, for dining in and it is usually empty.

I am sure I will return often since they serve great gelato and decent popiscle plus it is extremely convenient for me to pop over for a scoop or a stick. It is a pity that they do not operate on Sundays.
