The Udder Pancake At Lorong Kilat

The Udder Pancake by Udder has this cafe on the left of its Ice Cream cafe. I was quite surprise to find them having a pancake cafe since down the street there is Nook DIY Pancake Cafe.

My first visit was while they were having their soft launch. I tried their Naked Pancakes. The cafe wasn’t quite ready yet as the red boxes that you see in the cafe now wasn’t there then. Interestingly, some of the tables there is box with glass cover over in with some ornaments. I find it a little creepy for some of the stuff.

Now their menu are in printed booklets which look more presentable. There are mainly pancakes with about 7 different creation and sides & starters, drinks and Mille Crepe Cakes

I like their Naked Pancake very much. It is soft, fluffy with melt in your mouth texture. Most importantly it wasn’t too sweet, with a nice maple syrup it was perfect. Their butter was with sea salt. With these butter added onto the pancake, it tasted a little briny which I enjoyed to the max.

On my second visit, I tried the Pulled Pork Egg Benedicts, one of their signature item. It was with Poached Egg, Bacon, pile of Barbecue pulled pork on two pancake sandwiched with grilled cheddar cheese and a side salad.  You can choose either full or half portion. I was greedy so chose full. I was hoping that the cheese was mixed with the pancake batter but it wasn’t. I find the pulled pork a little too wet. The sauce soaked the pancake and the top pancake that came in contact with the pulled pork, very quickly turned soggy. This was something a little disappointing for me. I didn’t like my pancake this way.

For the coffee, pretty decent. It was with medium to low body, low acidity, medium to low aroma and it has black tea flavour note and a sweet nutty finish.

After my main, I was very full but I didn’t want to miss on the dessert so I have it for takeaway. I got a Baileys Tiramisu home for sharing.

I like the idea of “injecting” the Baileys into the Mille Crepe with a syringe. I find the Mille Crepe delish. It was with a good balance of tiramisu creme and chocolate dusting. And it was very slightly sweetish. And with the jab of Baileys, provided more fragrance. We enjoyed it very much.

Overall, The Udder Pancake serves decent pancake and drinks and delish Mille Crepe and I will choose to return if I am around the area.

Cafe Aoyama Collaborative At Upper Bukit Timah

Cafe Aoyama Collaborative is a Japanese feel cafe in Upper Bukit Timah.

The interior is very much modern with lots of Japanese touches. A few couches were scattered at different corners of the cafe. The space was pretty big, comfy with a sense of elegant.

Even the menu, it is very much Japanese dishes. There are also some Fresh Cream Crepes and for drinks, you can find coffee, tea and beer.

I ordered the Teriyaki Amberjack Don and I wanted very much to try the Fried Udon too, will leave it for next round. The Amberjack is a fish with firm texture. The teriyaki sauce is lightly coated on the surface of the thick Amberjack. Some slices of preserved ginger was added on the rice. I find it very delish to eat it together with the ginger. The fish is certainly fresh and tasty.

l like the feel of the cafe as it wasn’t at all crowded even on a Sunday afternoon. Food is pretty decent with reasonable pricing since it is nett; inclusive of GST and no service charge.

Ham Bao Bao, A Burger Stall, At Beauty World Centre

The hawker centre at the forth level of Beauty World Centre, there you will find a stall sending burgers, Ham Bao Bao.

It doesn’t has much on its menu, very focus with five types of burgers. You can find the usual Beef and Fish burgers, 2 types of pork burgers and a chicken burger that is infused with local flavour, Ayam Buah Kerluak.  When there is burger, how could fries be missing.

Everything on the menu looks delish to me and I wish I could try them all. What attracted me most was the Ayam Buah Kerluak. I like fusion dishes. The burger has a pretty thick black chicken patty due to the Buah Kerluak. I find the Buah Kerluak a bit too much and has masked the chicken flavour. For the fries, instead of using frozen fries, they cut the fresh potato into strip and fried it.

The pricing of the food are reasonable. If you don’t mind the heat and the ambience, Ham Bao Bao is a good alternative to McDonald that can be found on the first floor of Beauty World Centre. I am keen to try the Classic Beef Burger and Pulled Pork next.

Revelry, Waffles Cafe, In Lorong Kilat

After a number of Pancakes specialty cafe, finally we have a Waffles Specialty Cafe, The Revelry Cafe at Lorong Kilat. Somehow, I always prefer Waffles to Pancakes, probably due to the texture. I was certainly excited about it. I planned to visit them on their first day but as my inertia was high on that day, plan got postponed to the next day.

Revelry is started by a pair of sibling (a sister and a brother). I have the honour to chat with the sister and understand that they wanted to create a Circus themed cafe and with the name Revelry with is supposed to mean merry, loud and noisy, they chose Elephants which they feel is a Happy animal as the featured animal for the cafe.

The design is very different from the hipster cafe that we were getting. It is very much family oriented, lively and certainly casual. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seats catering to either preference. I like especially the lantern lighting that are up in the ceiling, making the entire cafe feel so bubbly. With the red against white wall, brighten the cafe ambience.

Revelry has a really cool menu and they are settled in a container at the corner of the counter, nearest to the entrance.

The featured item in Revelry is of course the Waffles, that comes in savoury or sweets, lots to choose from. They serve sides and some pastries and cakes with various drinks.

Ordering is to be done over the cashier and food will be served.

Revelry Signature Burffle
Revelry Signature Burffle

I was keen to try the Prawn & Cheese but it wasn’t available yet. So I switched for the Reverly Signature Burffle. It is very much a Beef Burger in Waffle as the Bun. The waffle isn’t the buttery or milky kind. In fact pretty bland but it was good for the Burffle. The entire Burffle is very tasty.

Cappuccino

The coffee is of medium to full body, medium acidity with sweet and very milk chocolaty flavour note. I like it.

I will certainly return for the sweets and other savoury waffles again and also the desserts.

Three Hands Coffee At Binjai Park (Moved)

I have lunch at Three Hands Coffee at Binjai Park after lots of activities in the morning. Woke up as early as 5.15 am to send my aunt off to the airport, had breakfast at our usual spot in the airport and then went straight to church for a recollection. Finally, I have some time for myself to gear down, relax and enjoy some good food.

Banner Outside Shop
Banner Outside Shop

Three Hands Coffee could be easily missed as there isn’t an obvious sign board. Look out for the banner shown in the photo, placed outside the shop.

It shares the same shop space with Taberna Wine Academy with Three Hands operating in the day while Taberna operates in the night.

When I entered into the cafe through the door by the side, I was attracted by the row of green cushion seats by the side. The green was contrasted with some orange cushions. The bright colours enlivened the atmosphere of the cafe and it brightened my mood too.

Coffee Menu
Coffee Menu

I saw lots of Oriole Coffee Roaster Coffee packs in the cafe so I suppose they are using Oriole. The cafe serves some ham and cheese croissants, smoked salmon sandwich and salad, pastries and cakes. These were narrated by the service crew as they only have a set of menu and it happened to be with the guests. As I heard smoked salmon, something I couldn’t resist so decision was easy.

So my lunch was a Smoked Salmon Sandwich and Cappuccino. There was lots of greens in the sandwich. The smoked salmon was sandwiched between a ciabatta and was served with some chips. The coffee was good too. It has a low acidity, round body and a good aroma. It has a nutty, chocolate flavour and there was a slight hint of caramel.

Rainbow Cake, Complimentary
Rainbow Cake, Complimentary

Three Hands Coffee was in a generous mood, they gave the diners a slice of complimentary Rainbow Cake. I have my share of a free slice too. The xake was soft and moist. Each layer of different colour gave a different fruity flavour. I tasted orange, strawberry, bitter lime. There was a thin spread of cheese frosting between the layers and it was finished with a thick layer of fresh whipped cream on the cake. It was a very tasty cake. It tasted extra yummy maybe because it was free. Lol. X)

Three Hands Coffee has a quiet, pleasant ambience as it is in a quiet estate. The cafe is great for spending time alone or with friends. The service was friendly and warm. Food was good and coffee was great.
