Royal Noodle (皇帝面) At Circular Road

Royal Noodle (皇帝面) fit for the king. It is located along Circular Road.

Interior is simple with homogeneous tables and chairs under warm lighting.

Order Chit

Menu is simple too with purely noodles and four variations; namely, soup or dry and with spicy or non-spicy.

Everything is self-service from ordering to collection of food. First decide on what you want and whether you want set. Take an order chit which is found on the table.

For the set, beside the noodle, you need to chose a side and a drink. Once you are done, proceed to the order count; order and pay and you get a buzzer. When ready, it will buzz and proceed to the collection counter at the other end to get your food.

Dry Spicy Noodle
Dry Spicy Noodle

I tried both the dry and soup version. The noodle is absolutely delish. I relish in the bowl of simple noodle. It was eggy and flavourful. The soup is rich and tasty too. The rest of the ingredients are really less of an importance. But I still would prefer if there are some greens.

Non-Spicy Soup Noodle

For the side, its a pity that they have mainly fried stuff, only the braised meat is non-fried. It would be awesome if they could offer a vegetable selection in the side.

Sugarcane Prawn

The sugarcane prawn was cripsy and filled with prawn sweetness.

Braised Pork
Braised Pork

Braised Pork was pretty well braised, with pretty enough herb and spice, though it could be better.

Braised Egg
Braised Egg

And lastly the Braised egg. My first tried was rather tasteless. On the second occasion, it was so much better. Personally, I still think the braised could be improved.

I am not a noodle fan, but I enjoyed the noodles tremendously. One of the best.

I Want My Noodle At Shaw Centre Along Scotts Road

I Want My Noodle has a very cute Chinese name, 见面就笑. When it is literally translated into English, it means you smile when you see noodles.

Interior
Interior

An interior with much industrial theme which you can easily identify with the cement floor and some piping as decoration. The furniture aren’t fanciful, only some wooden tables and wooden chairs with metal pipe-like frame.

I Want My Noodle crafts fresh egg noodles daily and it offers only egg noodles. You won’t find any other types of noodles or rice in the restaurant. Other dishes on the menu are a salad, a meatball soup, desserts and drinks.

Order Chit
Order Chit

Once you have decided, take an order chit which can be found on every table; fill it and bring it to the cashier and made payment with only cash. And you will be served when your food is ready.

Lor Bah Noodle
Lor Bah Noodle

I ordered the Lor Bah Noodle, one of the popular item. The noodle is fragrant, soft with slight chewiness. It has some Lor gravy (the gravy that was used to cook the Lor Bah) mixed with the noodles and chilli as I asked for spicy and perhaps some other condiments were added too. The Lor Bah was soft and it almost melted in the mouth. Personally, I find it lacking in the Lor fragrance. The Lor didn’t penetrate into the entire piece of meat. The other popular items in I Want My Noodle are Double Roast and Aromatic Prawn Noodle.

Lemongrass Soda
Lemongrass Soda

Something I find it more interesting for drink was the Lemongrass Soda in I Want My Noodle. It was with lightly lemongrass scent and slightly sweet. It was perfect for me. And certainly refreshing

Sago Pudding
Sago Pudding

The best part of my meal was having the Sago Pudding. I was mesmerized by the goodness of the Gula Melaka. I finished every single drop of the Gula Melaka. Can I have more of the Gula Melaka the next time?! It was simply awesome.

No doubt about returning to I Want My Noodle, especially for the Gula Melaka on the Sago Pudding! And of course the noodles too.

The Sweet Dynasty, A Chinese Restaurant At Tsim Sha Tsui

The Sweet Dynasty has revolved into a classy Chinese Restaurant from its humble beginning as a Dai Pai Dong (roadside open-air stall). They have a few outlets while I visited the one at Tsim Sha Tsui. When I was there on a Sunday for dinner, I was surrounded by tourists in the restaurant.

When I flipped through the menu, I saw lots of my favourite food. The first on the list was the Deep Fried Salted Yolk Prawns and that was what I ordered eventually. I read several reviews relating to its Stirred Fried Beef Rice Noodle. All commented it was delicious so I tried. And how could I not have a dessert at the end of my meal? And I ordered a Mango Pomelo Dessert with Ice Cream.

The Stirred Fried Beef Rice Noodle is pretty tasty, not too salty. But I still feel that it could be better.

I like the Deep Fried Salted Egg Yolk Prawns very much. It was delish. Some may find it a little salted but it sure would be since salted egg yolk was used.

Mango Pomelo with Ice Cream

Ended my meal with a sweet ending, a Mango Pomelo Dessert with Ice Cream. Yummy. Their tasted a little different from the rest that I have tried. It has a more milky taste and less fruity mango taste. So it very much will depend on your preference to determine if it was delicious. But I like it. They were generous with the amount of mango added. The pearl sago was orange in colour. That was beautiful.

Conclusion: The food though delicious is on the pricey end with portion considerably small when compared to the typical Hong Kong restaurant. As it is located at Tsim Sha Tsui, a tourist area, it is easy for tourist to find it and have dinner there.

Noodle Noodle Shop (面面店) At Jordan, Hong Kong, Yummy

I have dinner at Noodle Noodle Shop (面面店) at Jordan. There isn’t any English name for the shop, I translated it literally from the Chinese name. I first saw this shop in the taxi, on my way from the airport to hotel along Ivy Street. I think that shop is newly opened and it has quite a long queue. This aroused my interest to hunt it down and I found an outlet at Jordan.

The shop specialised in noodles as the name suggested. They have lots of different types of noodles including the very popular Che Zhai noodle (车仔面). Unfortunately, the menu is in only Chinese, not sure if there is a English version available.

The interior of the shop is very simple, with some high and what I called normal tables. Good enough for diners to have a bowl of noodles.

I ordered the Sichuan Spicy Pork Chop Noodle Set meal (麻辣系列套餐猪扒捞面) which came with a drink. I have never came across any shop serving Noodle in Sichuan Spice, thought it would be very interesting to try it. I was worried that it would be too spicy and numb. For those who have tried the Sichuan Spice would know what I mean by numb. It really will give you numbness in your tongue and in your lips but that’s temporary.

The standard drink is soya bean drink (豆浆), Hawthorn fruit drink (山楂冰) and the last drink, I am clueless what it was, to choose from. If you would like other drinks there is an additional charge. I choose the ice lemon tea (冰柠檬茶).

The Sichuan Spicy Pork Chop Noodle has black fungus and sourish preserved vegetable and should have sliced cucumber but I guessed they have ran out of cucumbler so they gave me kailan, a green leafy vegetable. I am fine. Oh ya, of course, there was the pork chop too. I started with the pork chop. It was flavourful, well marinated. The pork chop slice was thin, this is good, so it would not be too tough. Next I went on to the taste the noodle. The first mouth, oh my goodness, it was so “wow”. That was delicious. The noodle looks like the yellow noodles we have in Singapore. When I saw that, I feel abit down as I don’t like the yellow noodle as it has a strong alkaline taste. For this, I couldn’t taste the alkaline taste, maybe due to the sichuan spice. The sichuan spice sauce added to the noodle was just the right amount for me. The spiciness was average. The sour preserved vegetable was a great side as it helps to neutralize the burning sensation in your mouth. And as it was sour, it went well with the spicy taste.

I love the noodles served in Noodle Noodle Shop. I will surely be back to try other noodles. I do highly recommend Noodle Noodle Shop to all.
